Methodology

How Collective Vision Haus Ranks Products

The methodology remains consistent. The criteria change according to what actually matters for the product.

A 100-point score, assembled from category criteria

Every product we rank receives a Collective Score out of 100. That number is never entered directly. It is the sum of weighted criteria defined for that specific category, so the score can always be traced back to the reasons behind it.

A universal formula would be meaningless. Jump starters prioritise starting performance. Espresso machines may prioritise brewing performance and temperature stability. Vacuums may prioritise cleaning ability and suction. Applying the same five factors to all three would produce a tidy number that describes nothing.

How criteria are set

Before scoring begins, we define the criteria for the category and assign each a weight that adds up to 100 points. Weights reflect how much a factor influences whether the product does its job well — not how easy that factor is to measure, and never how much a product earns us.

What evidence counts

We use manufacturer specifications, product documentation, reputable independent testing, technical standards and aggregated owner-reported behaviour. Manufacturer claims are treated as claims unless independently verified, and we label them that way in the review.

Collective Vision Haus has not necessarily physically tested every product included in a ranking. Where a conclusion comes from research rather than first-hand use, we say so plainly rather than implying a test we did not run.

Why exactly five

A list of twenty-seven products is a search results page with commentary. We narrow every category to five and explain why each one sits where it does, including what it gives up to the product above it.

Independence

Affiliate relationships never affect a score or a position. There is no paid placement, no sponsored ranking and no arrangement in which a brand can buy its way onto a list. Read the editorial policy for the full commitments.

When rankings change

Rankings are revisited when products change, specifications change, pricing changes materially, better products enter the market, or new independent testing becomes available. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed.
